1. INTRODUCTION
This Privacy Policy describes how eBooks for Kindle (the App) handles information when you browse books, listen to audiobooks, save items or view advertisements. The App does not require registration, an account or payment details to use its core features.
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
a) Information You Provide Directly
The App has no account registration or contact form. If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include so that we can respond.
b) Information Collected Automatically via Advertising Services
The App uses Google AdMob and Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP). Depending on your privacy choices and the applicable ad-serving mode, Google and its advertising partners may process advertising and other device identifiers; device, network and app information; IP addresses and approximate location derived from them; app and ad interactions; and diagnostic and performance information. These services use information for advertising, measurement, analytics and fraud prevention. The App does not request access to precise device location.
c) Information Stored Locally on Your Device
The App saves book and audiobook favorites, recently viewed books, listening positions and sessions, playback speed, language and category selections, display preferences and cached book metadata in its private storage. Chapters that you choose to download for offline listening are stored in the App's private storage and are not placed in a public downloads folder.
The App does not upload your saved favorites, history or listening records to our content servers or advertising services. Starting with version 11.4, the App excludes its current library state, content cache and offline audio files from Android cloud backup and device transfer. This does not remove backups or legacy data created by older versions. Copies retained by an earlier device backup remain subject to your Android backup settings. UMP separately stores privacy choices so that it can apply them to advertising requests.
d) Server Communication & Content Retrieval
Book listings and page-count metadata are requested over HTTPS from our content servers hosted on Vercel. Requests may include your selected country and category, a requested catalog page, book identifiers (ASINs), and technical request parameters. Book search text is matched locally against downloaded catalog data; the search text is not sent to our content API.
Remote book covers are retrieved from the image hosts specified by the book metadata. Audiobook streaming and requested offline downloads retrieve audio from Internet Archive (archive.org) and its delivery servers. Like other internet connections, these requests disclose the device's IP address and technical request information, such as the requested resource and relevant request headers, to the receiving provider. Favorites, listening history and playback positions are not included in these content requests. Providers handle network information under their own policies.
e) Privacy Policy Website
This policy page is served by Firebase Hosting, provided by Google. Firebase Hosting processes IP addresses from incoming requests for abuse detection and usage analysis. Google describes retention of this IP data as a few months. This page includes no analytics scripts or Firebase app SDK. See Google's Firebase privacy information:
https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
3. ADVERTISING AND ADVERTISING IDENTIFIERS
The App displays banner and native advertisements through Google AdMob. Ad delivery and personalization depend on your privacy choices and applicable requirements. Google explains its data use here:
https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
You can manage your device's advertising identifier in Android settings, usually under Settings > Google > Ads. Available reset, deletion and ad-privacy controls vary by Android version. These device controls are separate from the App's Privacy Settings described below.
4. CONSENT & PRIVACY RIGHTS (EEA, UK, AND SWITZERLAND)
The App checks privacy requirements through UMP at launch and presents a consent message where required, including for users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. Ads are requested only when UMP indicates that requests are permitted.
Where UMP requires a privacy options entry point, open the menu in the books or audiobooks screen and choose Privacy Settings to review or change your choices, including withdrawing consent. This entry point is also used for other regional privacy messages where applicable, including applicable US state choices.
Declining or withdrawing consent does not prevent use of the App's book and audiobook features. Depending on your choices and the available ad-serving mode, you may receive non-personalized ads, limited ads or no ads. We do not override UMP's choices to force personalized advertising.
5. DATA SHARING AND INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS
Google and its advertising partners process advertising information as described above and in the privacy message. Vercel receives content API requests, and image and audio providers receive requests for the resources they deliver. Stored favorites, browsing history and listening records are not sent as part of those requests.
The App is available internationally, and these providers may process information outside your country. Their privacy notices describe their data practices and applicable safeguards. Google's privacy policy is available at:
https://policies.google.com/privacy
6. EXTERNAL LINKS & AMAZON AFFILIATION DISCLOSURE
Book links may open Amazon or another external website or app. Audiobook source links may open LibriVox or Internet Archive. These services operate independently under their own terms and privacy policies. The App does not collect your transactions on those external services.
This App is an independent product and is not created, endorsed or sponsored by Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.
7. DATA RETENTION AND DELETION
Local library settings, favorites and listening records remain until you remove them using available in-app controls or clear the App's storage. Downloaded chapters can be removed using the App's offline download controls.
To remove all locally stored app data, use Android's Clear Storage / Clear Data control for the App or uninstall it. Clear Cache alone does not remove persistent preferences, favorites or listening history. These actions do not delete information already processed by external providers or backup copies created by an older app version; manage those through the relevant provider or Android backup controls.
Google and other providers apply their own retention and deletion policies to information they process. To make a privacy request or ask about information provided directly to HYM, contact webhym@gmail.com. We may need enough information to identify and respond to your request; we do not maintain user accounts or a server copy of your saved library.
8. SECURITY
The App uses HTTPS for content API calls, remote images and audio retrieval. Google states that Mobile Ads SDK data is encrypted in transit. Local app data and downloaded audio use Android's app-private storage. No method of transmission or storage can guarantee absolute security.
9. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The App is designed for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13, or under 16 where applicable. It does not knowingly collect information directly from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App or related services, contact webhym@gmail.com so that we can investigate and take appropriate action.
10. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS (GDPR / CCPA)
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information and to restrict or object to certain processing. Use Menu > Privacy Settings where available to manage the privacy choices offered for your region, including withdrawal or applicable opt-out choices. You may also contact HYM at webhym@gmail.com about information we process.
For information processed independently by Google or other providers, their notices explain the relevant rights and request channels. Google's privacy policy is:
https://policies.google.com/privacy
11. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this Policy to reflect changes to the App or its data practices. The updated text and revision date will be published at this address. Where a change requires renewed consent, we will request it through the appropriate privacy message.
